 2021-2022

08/04/2021

Dear Imai Families,

I can’t believe school starts in one week and there is still so much to do. Our dedicated teachers come back this week and they will hit the ground running to ensure everything is ready for our first day of school.

We will go over safety protocols at our coffee but please know ahead of time that parents will not be allowed on campus to drop off or pick up their children. We suggest you start practicing with them so they are familiar with the procedure before the first day of school. Students will be allowed to come in through the main entrance (near the main office), Kindergarten gate and Carroll gate (side gates too). Staff members will be at the gates to ensure everyone gets to the right location before the bell rings. We ask for your understanding and patience as we welcome 440+ students back to school. Allow yourself enough time to ensure a quick and seamless drop off.

First Day of School is a Minimum Day

The first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 11, is a minimum day, meaning students will be dismissed earlier according to the schedule. Thursday, Aug. 12 is on the Thursday schedule (earlier than typical release-11:55AM). Friday, Aug. 13 will be a full school day for students.

How to Find Out Your Child’s Teacher (PowerSchool)

In order to meet social distancing requirements for large events, there will be no in-person class posting events on campuses. Class placement information will be available to parents online beginning Monday, August 9 at 8 a.m. Your child’s class placement for the 2021-22 school year will be available for viewing on the PowerSchool Parent Portal: https://ps.mvwsd.org/public/ under the My Schedule link. If you have difficulty signing in to PowerSchool, please call your school office.

 Masks Required For All Students/Staff

A public health order from the California Department of Public Health outlines that everyone, including those who are fully vaccinated, is required to wear a mask while indoors at a school campus. In addition to vaccination, masking is our most effective strategy to protect ourselves and others against COVID-19 and other more transmissible variants. MVWSD will be requiring masks for outdoor activities such as recess and physical education in alignment with CDC recommendations. Staff members are required to be masked on school grounds when working/meeting with other adults (unless 100% of the adults present are vaccinated).

Sincerely,

Arline Siam

Principal
